Now that we're in the final stretch of the film, all that fruit is ripening. In fact, I'm getting some roughs down while communicating with my compositor. I wanted to share what work we've been doing in these final weeks of production.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9oypUIwV5jdChX_bkezqtv96YQomBk4NB0kho4jhNMAFVq38qbQUPtqzecIaVlDbb22MCHE1zgJEXtZqF3aCI-Yc39Hjtmp5RXaw0G_nX8T5no2EQImYQTeKvc0b3qJITJijSYA-qVtZU/s1600/mockup_04.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9oypUIwV5jdChX_bkezqtv96YQomBk4NB0kho4jhNMAFVq38qbQUPtqzecIaVlDbb22MCHE1zgJEXtZqF3aCI-Yc39Hjtmp5RXaw0G_nX8T5no2EQImYQTeKvc0b3qJITJijSYA-qVtZU/s320/mockup_04.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609390498178247570" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHb8EpEHSzif_Yva2Tc5s8LdgYYZdKC2PMALmbtj1qyohCXJrszRU5sixhvzdGcsyumsFZSsdk5vOQunWWm07CtXZPrT5ng6gYa35v9KF2dsoZJaI37SS2kDB_SoBfVVmW5P2nTFbXYwOh/s1600/mockup_12.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHb8EpEHSzif_Yva2Tc5s8LdgYYZdKC2PMALmbtj1qyohCXJrszRU5sixhvzdGcsyumsFZSsdk5vOQunWWm07CtXZPrT5ng6gYa35v9KF2dsoZJaI37SS2kDB_SoBfVVmW5P2nTFbXYwOh/s320/mockup_12.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609390568199205026" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX_R7y2u-YMInY34I9QNtGt4n0utImgVQvBBRrsNUqRfO-_ukd6Sd266saqu6m7pZOVxosa1rF6ehBwFs3BCtGplgS81bcUGsDB3XCYQ9btTm0kjmdA-C2-3LB6ACiYviQgHzOVx4JHebA/s1600/mockup_20.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX_R7y2u-YMInY34I9QNtGt4n0utImgVQvBBRrsNUqRfO-_ukd6Sd266saqu6m7pZOVxosa1rF6ehBwFs3BCtGplgS81bcUGsDB3XCYQ9btTm0kjmdA-C2-3LB6ACiYviQgHzOVx4JHebA/s320/mockup_20.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609390646721042690" border="0" /></a><br /><br />For those who didn't know, my senior film has a deadline given to me by SCAD for May 31. The turn out was small, but it left more time for bonding and it was a lot more personal. We already have a hand full of people who showed up working and diligent about the project, so I think everything worked out for the better!</div><br /><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipW_Cl9kGbz09eqq4aWRKp_aiyZdNlOFBwOAg06IgOcP9aFnvYKlQ4D7Kc9TwghUi9LgFOvjRrRKrSllDBYBPie99DfPZNYUUJEdkUu2WjaRuJKD5ze8QDa_gRxoo-dDTabx8KQPQ1B4nn/s320/Soiree_Spring2011.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 299px; height: 320px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599691365278213458" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div>Jenny and I got a little sentimental about it. Seeing how people respond to the project as it's progressing into it's final stages is really making me feel good about the final showing in June.</div><div><br /></div><div>Other seniors were there, including the makers of the graduate film Rain Dance and the maker of <a href="http://testflight2011.blogspot.com/">Test Flight</a>. Even just among the seniors/graduates participating in the Soiree, there was a very rich community. Rain Dance was even giving away stickers - which my friend, Jay, quickly put to good use.</div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH3szKCh6pgHPzHXh1i07KobpPYUGQztOnlOdEO41gmpJOJlUZuuM1wkGCCxSQhELPVeqJoU9EqwSUQge5vcnjixP0DQ65cmVhQhdemLNHB1tEbCQx-xLzSxHvnEg-6gb3zuKjo6rtlVVz/s320/brains.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 207px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599695559464221570" /></div><div><br /></div><div>Happy belated Easter, everyone!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-4878627484192120152011-04-24T06:37:00.001-07:002011-04-24T16:10:51.788-07:00Visual Goodies<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO-A7cjNyc0Ui2awaKjia8sxRnquCpXFeGUguE04rXwMp3zygX10Q6oyI0WWz1qypX8171qkXHe34g_uHoDiWT3khcPA2nk7z-dv2ukiscq9xOtDlt8MIjzN7f0EZJnWImyY6ShoItv9lx/s1600/clean.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO-A7cjNyc0Ui2awaKjia8sxRnquCpXFeGUguE04rXwMp3zygX10Q6oyI0WWz1qypX8171qkXHe34g_uHoDiWT3khcPA2nk7z-dv2ukiscq9xOtDlt8MIjzN7f0EZJnWImyY6ShoItv9lx/s320/clean.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599144667240664178" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Fg8CIIS5IIYxdHaB9iR5tou3yxJb9UnArRmmxyLpRxy5S0AUUL5rTsR7-V9DSy-emDYrj6CjfxGVO5ZXJhhMPx8V1_2BEG5sx6u_EcL7FOWP6KDhH76jjdcEbwPSYSYXpm56kptOgZX2/s1600/Aiden_Turnaround.jpg"><br /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfUS_kSK6LG0FFxgCa-_IAWTyKW6K4qFZE8wdIorUMqotusjUqKUDOF-T1KsJtZtGJoqjm7Obt02PFS0Rc9lDnmOTrOtqXaRqnYRFliaTCDr2rmDhPEsU7eEjpXZtSuva45sHX7NH74i7c/s1600/Banshee_Turnaround.jpg"><br /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEQ9f8rhtbfCNQBdI8kUi5eZ6bckqFziyt1ouoJy9NQZWat42nc_attp4pLC23kTk1rwlMKBLu6Uxf40k2y_TZaqZdoLF1tGnVqLU0pWKCjw44WdVzU9JDY-BXOlFs09cqcVM4QIc57IxM/s1600/AidanColor.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEQ9f8rhtbfCNQBdI8kUi5eZ6bckqFziyt1ouoJy9NQZWat42nc_attp4pLC23kTk1rwlMKBLu6Uxf40k2y_TZaqZdoLF1tGnVqLU0pWKCjw44WdVzU9JDY-BXOlFs09cqcVM4QIc57IxM/s320/AidanColor.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599144736832491570" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj6GgZXoTmO3GiZ3rvliPLnMgwUvq0065_E2xIfbnca0gZhZW9AG_A1mZqyUda8TQhaNAFyyyYHI-jYm10nojzbR1PL7VN-r7Rsq3hk3FXqnsFzolXzuQRCDxVLmzrRnWFw6PWPRb544uT/s1600/ALL_water.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 257px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj6GgZXoTmO3GiZ3rvliPLnMgwUvq0065_E2xIfbnca0gZhZW9AG_A1mZqyUda8TQhaNAFyyyYHI-jYm10nojzbR1PL7VN-r7Rsq3hk3FXqnsFzolXzuQRCDxVLmzrRnWFw6PWPRb544uT/s320/ALL_water.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599144253563683330" border="0" /></a><br />As we are entering the home stretch, I thought it would be appropriate to give previews of what the crew is presently working on! Right now, the we are cleaning up rough animation and coloring like mad crazy (producer & director included). The film is looking beautiful with our first colored shots nearing completion and all layouts to be completed in two weeks. Insane times are ahead but our crew is fantastic and working really hard to produce something absolutely beautiful! We can't wait for everyone to see the results. A hearty thank you and congratulations to our most patient and talented crew!<br /><br />If you are a SCAD animation student and are interested in helping Robin finish up her senior film this quarter, please feel free to shoot me, the producer, an email (jplyle20@student.scad.edu). We will be more than happy to get you on board!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-91795763172874136442011-04-02T17:50:00.000-07:002011-04-02T18:03:56.154-07:00Next PhaseBravo again, everyone, for finishing up the rough animation section of production! The next phase is going into production immediately starting this Sunday at 5pm specifically! That is when the first meeting for clean up with start and everyone who's been waiting patiently can finally jump up and get to work! (for more information on this meeting email me, Robin Stanberry, at robinpants@gmail.com)<br /><br />Some other meetings that simultaneously happened this weekend have been Painting Layout meeting and Sound Design meeting! These two teams are the smallest teams in the production (Sound Design winning with an impressive 1 person), but are some of the most important departments! The layout department even has a rough color test screen shot of what the film is aspiring to be:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAl6kxZQrTPMSpEkJjyjT4VQlOzIlM5pAxDKGyZmVTKg46YaOKh1Wk9tbnt6d7zd3IQ2dy5ggyLOysHJqEqQiSq042f_KGn1lJ8BFb4wQpDHsSpaOWXdY7JeZvH_v0QgEVI5AMkMxq1DI7/s1600/ColorStill_01.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAl6kxZQrTPMSpEkJjyjT4VQlOzIlM5pAxDKGyZmVTKg46YaOKh1Wk9tbnt6d7zd3IQ2dy5ggyLOysHJqEqQiSq042f_KGn1lJ8BFb4wQpDHsSpaOWXdY7JeZvH_v0QgEVI5AMkMxq1DI7/s320/ColorStill_01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591155584324774082" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBzD6fuDNRPy5h1XuZ4KcCRfIig_o8-rivl59_WUb9I9ZnVxzHrGfGHAzo0J7b59GqN3z1g_-wDziXL2npc7X7qqqqrHtP4hEYVUUsaXh-B065_QaPRrYEDp8apYraFjV_KKys9Ur2TNXX/s1600/ColorStill_02.jpg"><br /></a>I am thrilled to see everything coming together. All-in-all, despite being a little behind, everyone is in good spirits that we can get the rough animation done on schedule.<br /><br />On what days I'm not animating effects, I've been keyframing like the wind. And in good spirits for the production staff, I'd like to broadcast and encourage visual tomfoolery!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLQA4mfFV6lYSH-XOadaDe4X3EU-LGXWkS3a2hlA_9ryzbXT-t-iqLqmRurGgWlibSoOgh6xCN1ODUR2fGrYfHHOw8YTyZj2W4ZguchPIFUAnXIeeN2uJi2q4vuRYdjeqMPKHGPwuLuz5c/s1600/AidanLAWL2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLQA4mfFV6lYSH-XOadaDe4X3EU-LGXWkS3a2hlA_9ryzbXT-t-iqLqmRurGgWlibSoOgh6xCN1ODUR2fGrYfHHOw8YTyZj2W4ZguchPIFUAnXIeeN2uJi2q4vuRYdjeqMPKHGPwuLuz5c/s320/AidanLAWL2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577257692924188834" border="0" /></a>I'm pretty sure 19th century Ireland didn't have gangsters. It seems like everyone is too busy or just doesn't want to compose music. I've been getting the word out, but waiting for people to respond is killing me. I wish there was an easy "yes/no" button on people instead of getting wishy-washy answers all the time.<br /><br />In other news, because of the sudden increase in the group of volunteers, the credits on the blog probably won't been updated. Keeping track of who did what might have to come later on in the process than I thought. But I'm really fortunate to have the group that I have.Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-43370248760993027802011-02-14T21:36:00.000-08:002011-02-14T22:31:31.017-08:00Final Design LayoutAs many of you may know, Sunday was the deadline for me to pick a solid design (provided by my wonderful layout crew) for the trees in the forest for the film. Pretty much everyone tackled the challenge, but only one could be chosen.<br /><br />Everyone pulled a good run, but I had to go with the idea that followed the directions I gave the closest and shared my vision for the film. The design is by <a href="http://lochi.deviantart.com/">Kyle O'Neill</a>.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpl4mHdFkT5-uwxkZQokidCfrRg3sKTsoaqFU6Rxno1u5xtQHkP8V32_eQ_yDcy41EQ0T1VAik6p6MTUZqycfTkg34eN3GEUeU5etnDB5cqip7sGLVduGLG-EYuepW2GbjvZ04UwbN8L_x/s1600/Kyle%2529celtictrees2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 294px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpl4mHdFkT5-uwxkZQokidCfrRg3sKTsoaqFU6Rxno1u5xtQHkP8V32_eQ_yDcy41EQ0T1VAik6p6MTUZqycfTkg34eN3GEUeU5etnDB5cqip7sGLVduGLG-EYuepW2GbjvZ04UwbN8L_x/s320/Kyle%2529celtictrees2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573787321082127634" border="0" /></a><br />Ignoring the color, this was basically what I was going for. It is simple without being too distracting and is strong and solid enough to be repeated and overlapped.<br /><br />Through the process of submissions, I couldn't help but feel like the communication between the layout crew and I could have been stronger. So to keep everyone on the same page, I drew this sketchy, unofficial representation on how I would like everyone to deal with the layouts as they play in perspective:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKBOJLqoV3lvZVuLZIyvXehrc2RwJeTAMqiQnzQgMel2Ko-48eQiVWxKiHF64fCpBEhO8ypitgMm1KjPD1BLLpbUy5MwDHQNy3-mv0w88SnNX3hc9vFdqG6lBjSFJW3FanBNF-zLnEq7RW/s1600/mockup.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 178px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKBOJLqoV3lvZVuLZIyvXehrc2RwJeTAMqiQnzQgMel2Ko-48eQiVWxKiHF64fCpBEhO8ypitgMm1KjPD1BLLpbUy5MwDHQNy3-mv0w88SnNX3hc9vFdqG6lBjSFJW3FanBNF-zLnEq7RW/s320/mockup.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573796031747488562" border="0" /></a>Note that the layouts for the film are going to just be line art. I did this in color so you all will have a rough idea of how your layouts will be treated, complete with a little Aidan (<b><i><u>note</u></i></b><i><u></u></i>: it is not correctly to scale). Also note how the bottoms of the trees fade into the ground, but still receed as the trees go back. In case you cannot see it due to the knots, here is an idea of how the layering will work:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK_gss_3J8XCltxEcLmNKUwtAwjso1feRJH2RMzWrJdIepNNlZcoAKhKo6oOGuyoUp1qGf6F-FWGvuKi9gEJQQHKy7Tj8tBWKT3Fr-kyOTIPwg7L4vvXKMDtX2AzLOygqdredYgklFXBVV/s1600/mockuplineart.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 139px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK_gss_3J8XCltxEcLmNKUwtAwjso1feRJH2RMzWrJdIepNNlZcoAKhKo6oOGuyoUp1qGf6F-FWGvuKi9gEJQQHKy7Tj8tBWKT3Fr-kyOTIPwg7L4vvXKMDtX2AzLOygqdredYgklFXBVV/s320/mockuplineart.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573797401998632194" border="0" /></a><br />Most of you will only have 2-4 layers to your scenes. Do not draw in the fog, but if there is water in your scene you should show how the layers recede into space the same way you would the trees (remember water will be animated, but it is for the benefit of the animators).<br /><br />A few of you at the meeting were asking me about branches. I was worried about it becoming too busy if each layer had branches, so I discovered this could be avoided (and still have the visual success the branches give) if <u>only the first layer of trees had branches.</u> In the example, they are designed to make Aidan the focus, and I would encourage all my layout artists to think along those lines with composition in mind. Remember: your layout (though extremely important) is not the star. The characters are the stars.<br /><br />Normally I wouldn't put art-related announcements for the crew on this blog, but I would like to keep all of this in one simple package so we can refer back to it later.Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-6213539856081893852011-02-12T00:34:00.000-08:002011-02-12T00:35:14.468-08:00Art Of...So this is the week for solidifying of how the celtic knots will actually play a part in the design of the background. I'm excited and anxious at the same time. The usual "what if"s of production are of course taking their tole.<br /><br />I hope when the designed are finalized, I can start putting some student work up here (with their permission, of course). I don't necessarily feel comfortable just yet putting work up on this blog that isn't mine - but I'll do my best to keep the blog updated.<br /><br />The animatic itself is finished and for a little break, I started tinkering around with the pitch poster again. A few people mentioned that the second version of the first poster wasn't as successful, so I played around a bit more. This is a size comparison that is in the character sheets I finalized. After all the research, I decided the original designs (minus some significant tweaks) are the most simple and efficient.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1Dtb_IFk4FO6VkkxmcaRcsAQgtMSD_13W7pGh9CmwwOr0cCQwOX_AxvVc8yiEv29O7S_-AMjetSpz8bL0YgxC4xGWB2qeayZPVjSiSVkaFrIgrcgh08iCfMZPi-qUKF4xtDZcHBfXXO2T/s1600/comparison.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1Dtb_IFk4FO6VkkxmcaRcsAQgtMSD_13W7pGh9CmwwOr0cCQwOX_AxvVc8yiEv29O7S_-AMjetSpz8bL0YgxC4xGWB2qeayZPVjSiSVkaFrIgrcgh08iCfMZPi-qUKF4xtDZcHBfXXO2T/s320/comparison.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559626702635596738" border="0" /></a>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-61900664116402789132010-12-10T12:20:00.000-08:002011-01-14T21:08:49.620-08:00Running Around Research<div style="text-align: left;">Long story short, I started doing research to better solidify the character sheets and i found out my original research on my character designs were not that accurate. Turns out I had been dressing both my banshee and the boy (whom I have named Aidan) around 1800s when banshee lore was actually more frequent around the 1400s.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div>So a few more days of research later, and I found the original dress the natives of ireland wore in the 1400s. Unfortunately, they don't lend themselves to very attractive silhouettes.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>I did a quick line up to show how far my character designs have gone over the past few months, the last being what was supposed to be common dress in the 1400s:</div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsbLFbg7CnhjuXPLvyHvxiS32eOew6xfFWBsG7QvE7lFIpBaGInYUPJCzGAkOSD5ZA8ZEbUOfKFyiplDDGF2Rq6HyXIJoD2ddw4WtopCmukptLnrruIlPU4L1J-5YUoDmEpLvZ31yuvts3/s320/progression_banshee.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 239px;" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549152567654361746" border="0" /><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUanVQi9Vx8cGDywMyJk72L3hZ0P-BNlgxtDzxA2W3PYeSEFR7n86WccazxGrsM7kidS3fSHdlRbUK2b6wu8MqzSJxcwGC0e5egs-7zMemJI09L5RkhF1PnbkFWi5-Uw1o7lreauMUGIld/s320/progression_aidan.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 241px;" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549152985952675314" border="0" /></div><div><div style="text-align: left;">Getting kind of nervous about how I would deal with the plaid as well. Too much detail in pattern can make clean up 10x slower.</div></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-65452609077839742302010-11-29T19:41:00.000-08:002010-11-29T20:08:15.195-08:00OverdueFor anyone who noticed, the project has been on hold for the past few months. It's not without good reason, but inexcuseable besides.<div><br /></div><div>In my absence, I snagged a producer - <a href="http://jennyplyler.blogspot.com/">Jenny Plyler</a> - who is as excited if not more so about this project than I am. She's become co-editer of the blog and so far has a very clear view of the road ahead.</div><div><br /></div><div>As far as progress on the film itself goes, all is as it was left. The second animatic had been started already, but because of my vacation from the project I'm starting completely fresh. Especially since I've decided to take a more professional approach to it with the time I've been given.</div><div><br /></div><div>Goals for December are a little high and my school-related schedule will not lend itself to my success. I have taken a bit of the layout design into my own hands, mostly for time and not wanting to ruin anyone's winter break. I have found a lot of inspiration in Scott Willis' layouts in the blog <a href="http://animationbgs.blogspot.com/">CandyCaneLand</a>, mostly for color but I could learn a thing or two about composition along the way.</div><div><br /></div><div>Look for images in the future.</div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-55262370057910529422010-10-12T20:28:00.000-07:002011-01-23T17:25:51.263-08:00Forest ResearchSo research is under way, which means one crucial and exciting thing: the designs are officially being drawn.<br /><br />After a well-deserved consult with the lovely <a href="http://alexandraposton.blogspot.com/">Lexy Poston</a>, we've finally started getting a good background layout design. As requested, I've looked up a few Ireland-related wild life that I thought would be inspiring to have in the film. <div><br /></div><div>Next is the diagram to how these beautiful works of nature will apply to each scene. If only my scanner was working, I could have them up to tonight. Darn technology... Well here's a slideshow of said plants so you can pretend you're not sitting at home in front of a computer screen.<div><br /><br /><div style="width:480px;text-align:right;"><embed width="480" height="360" src="http://static.pbsrc.com/flash/rss_slideshow.swf" flashvars="rssFeed=http%3A%2F%2Ffeed1217.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fdd383%2Fwasherpics%2FBackground%2520Tree%2520Reference%2Ffeed.rss" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"></embed><a href="http://photobucket.com/redirect/album?showShareLB=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_geturs.gif" style="border:none;" /></a><a href="http://s1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd383/washerpics/Background%20Tree%20Reference/" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_viewall.gif" style="border:none;" /></a></div></div></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-82576631823705602982010-10-09T23:08:00.000-07:002010-10-09T23:22:08.808-07:00Senior SoireeThe Senior Soiree was a giant success! I have about 5 weeks to get everything figured out and get a Sound Designer on the team.<br /><br />Currently <a href="http://alexandraposton.blogspot.com/">Lexy Poston</a> and Bernadette O'Keeffe are on the storyboard staff. So the second, and much better, animatic is under way.<br /><br />In the mean time, I decided to redesign the characters to fit the new, more dark twist to the plot. Starting with the Banshee.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhodNR8qDYpIfseepG7Dbjby3FLpQQmmj4Jn_3ombJW8dukcKBghniZaycuLaHatMt0gN8Y_6Qnb_6y9BljANCbk87-bM4u9nbukh53gV68O3c0O2EdM6teQT7Q2Wdtbn1sVBLepz7IBdr_/s1600/concept.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 314px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhodNR8qDYpIfseepG7Dbjby3FLpQQmmj4Jn_3ombJW8dukcKBghniZaycuLaHatMt0gN8Y_6Qnb_6y9BljANCbk87-bM4u9nbukh53gV68O3c0O2EdM6teQT7Q2Wdtbn1sVBLepz7IBdr_/s320/concept.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523610648292164530" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-90989575597644264452010-08-14T18:40:00.000-07:002010-08-14T18:45:38.227-07:00Backgrounds and AnimaticI have been doing some research and sketches as far as what I want the backgrounds to look like. The scene is set in 1800 Ireland. I regrettably have not been there myself, but I have found images from several beautiful forests in Ireland and I'm mixing my favorites together to create the setting for the film.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjx0DJXNvRN82UjbhK3lSxxGY9YhaE4WNYgObggFPDrzqjhmqjU4IsOrXqlpxqV24PLgnNDl_PfwjUbroYM3qEtxK25_pqtbp8cK_piFw9cbbCne11ihX4sP5HRGbe2ycGgTRUDxuWWEyX/s1600/backgroundconcept1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjx0DJXNvRN82UjbhK3lSxxGY9YhaE4WNYgObggFPDrzqjhmqjU4IsOrXqlpxqV24PLgnNDl_PfwjUbroYM3qEtxK25_pqtbp8cK_piFw9cbbCne11ihX4sP5HRGbe2ycGgTRUDxuWWEyX/s320/backgroundconcept1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505446173684787858" border="0" /></a></div><br />This image was inspired from a photograph I found where the forest was covered in moss. In the film, this is where the boy will hear the woman singing and curiously begin heading toward. Because of cinematography reasons, I had to flip my original image for the animatic, which turned out like so.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF3igqMOeMbuBOmH_484PvFOZjzZ3eKRTivqHGpwtf_Msol6b24FDCwLv1RiUTG5Bnl8Xf-BvnAPjsgpRpKfpeCgoFvYfhX9GGT5N6QsL0pPwUsE3Wok-z8gXLVy13S9QC4HsfxP4gI07t/s1600/scene2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF3igqMOeMbuBOmH_484PvFOZjzZ3eKRTivqHGpwtf_Msol6b24FDCwLv1RiUTG5Bnl8Xf-BvnAPjsgpRpKfpeCgoFvYfhX9GGT5N6QsL0pPwUsE3Wok-z8gXLVy13S9QC4HsfxP4gI07t/s320/scene2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505446575476465794" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br />It is vectorized and simplified for use in the animatic, but essentially the same idea.<br /></div></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-53179730266259456252010-08-05T12:28:00.000-07:002010-08-05T12:30:35.807-07:00Sneek Peek of the Character SheetsThe character sheets, for my Concept class, have been finished. I feel like I'm going to be doing them again to be more clear under a less rushed environment.<br /><br />Here's a peek on what the characters are ideally going to look like for the film.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgt7DnEU-0rZ_tUSf6lU8wio1941vqppAN1sTAAQdxYDAUC10JfEiljieenQyFg5Adte_OBIYFw1_73nKw4oGuvagJcOzHPuZtCzVIweq2IroR-DOEQF2RxsyKgUEde3C7s3K-oNeYEMqQ/s1600/seniorcouple.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgt7DnEU-0rZ_tUSf6lU8wio1941vqppAN1sTAAQdxYDAUC10JfEiljieenQyFg5Adte_OBIYFw1_73nKw4oGuvagJcOzHPuZtCzVIweq2IroR-DOEQF2RxsyKgUEde3C7s3K-oNeYEMqQ/s320/seniorcouple.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502010316680007794" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-15268874727015785902010-08-05T12:27:00.000-07:002010-08-05T12:28:20.267-07:00Further Concepts and Guest Art<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bbqoIB_koBQ/TE_DkXiaWKI/AAAAAAAAADk/HJXotKtJP5U/s1600/concepts.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bbqoIB_koBQ/TE_DkXiaWKI/AAAAAAAAADk/HJXotKtJP5U/s320/concepts.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5498828699603720354" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br />More rough work with character designs for the film. Even though I'm not completely satisfied with them, I'm being forced to finish them up and make character sheets for my class's sake. The sheets are still in progress.<br /><br />I wanted them to remain simple, so I'm asking my friend <a href="http://chewibunny.deviantart.com/">Stephanie Wang</a> to translate some of the characters in her style to help. In my efforts to be as big of a distraction to her life as possible, I got this pitch poster out of her.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bbqoIB_koBQ/TE_ALvAPIlI/AAAAAAAAADc/QATikjXQ9lc/s1600/mockposter.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 198px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bbqoIB_koBQ/TE_ALvAPIlI/AAAAAAAAADc/QATikjXQ9lc/s320/mockposter.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5498824977871217234" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-8676763638260810922010-08-05T12:23:00.000-07:002010-08-05T12:26:06.878-07:00Ginger or Irish? My first dealings with the male character were a little rough. Dealing with the contrast of shapes with the banshee's oval face and giving him a square face, I began trying facial features on him using the ideal style I wanted the characters to be in.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBEIvwjixdg9whzuUF6GXH8Zu_q4fa3_yuV4SkI3l2qyS-JCZRB9_3eqPMR9Eoj_WFgpGBgOf9FeQsBgns42_0EzotQ6-5xffLJ_AJnnVwrq-g-UDX8jQAYiUL3GCKbpY0SFoE5r5lL94Y/s1600/boybanshee1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBEIvwjixdg9whzuUF6GXH8Zu_q4fa3_yuV4SkI3l2qyS-JCZRB9_3eqPMR9Eoj_WFgpGBgOf9FeQsBgns42_0EzotQ6-5xffLJ_AJnnVwrq-g-UDX8jQAYiUL3GCKbpY0SFoE5r5lL94Y/s320/boybanshee1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502009066147109586" border="0" /></a><br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I began experimenting with how the character would be broken down for the animators as well.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXYtZpME27egq_6xGj7apZfMcfbNh2Zkj4GhWHetxzIssKEYLjZNvOf6h6fSuxd13zWV3538Ok7UYcmoEM1Ipaao5tUV3i-bBUDmLv6qxD9Ccy4P9ZUoF1_pK9kEG8t7CeSEb8IWfpaZDX/s1600/boy1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 266px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXYtZpME27egq_6xGj7apZfMcfbNh2Zkj4GhWHetxzIssKEYLjZNvOf6h6fSuxd13zWV3538Ok7UYcmoEM1Ipaao5tUV3i-bBUDmLv6qxD9Ccy4P9ZUoF1_pK9kEG8t7CeSEb8IWfpaZDX/s320/boy1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502009141203408690" border="0" /></a></div>Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073223301697480852.post-7405490645699674052010-08-05T12:18:00.000-07:002010-08-05T12:22:42.756-07:00Banshee ConceptsThese are the concept pieces for the Banshee character, who hadn't been named yet. She predicts his death to him in the river, which eventually leads to his demise.<br /><br />The story is simple because the primary focus will be on the visuals. This blog is meant to keep people informed and, when the film is finished, pose as an in-the-making for people who enjoyed the film and are interested about what went on when it was happening.<br /><br />Up to this point many of the concept pieces have been posted on Robin Stanberry's primary art blog, <a href="http://robbingstan.blogspot.com/">Robbing Stan</a>, and will be re-posted here in one giant blog.Robin Shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08543857863211132004noreply@blogger.com0
